SoNiC,
        does your computer appear in the entirenetwork/workgroup listing?
there could be a few causes for this, one of them is an NT Server on the
network acting as browse master(controlling what can be browsed through
network neighborhood)
Also try working with the lmhosts file
add each computer in there in this form
IP      hostname
ex.
192.168.0.1     Server
192.168.0.2     crap
etc..
if this doesn't work,
I'm pretty good with samba Send me a copy of your smb.conf and I'll take a
look at it
