John -- Did you see my earlier message on this thread? I mentioned there
that to process Postscript files, you'll need to find a Ghostscript filter
that works with your printer, and I listed a URL
(http://www.picante.com/~gtaylor/pht/printer_list.cgi) where you can get
info on specific printers. Unfortunately, I just checked again and found it
only lists lasers and inkjets. The Ghostscript site too
(http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/) also seems to list only lasers and inkjets.
Afraid you'll need to track down a source for info on Ghostscript-type
drivers for older printers like yours. I thought there was one, but now I
can't find it. Until you do that, and identify a driver (if one exists),
you'll be limited to printing text (ascii) messages.
I don't use KMail, so I don't know which way it tries to print, but I'm
guessing it sends Postscript from the error-message fragment you were able
to supply. X-based programs typically do.
