Yes but what partition is the root filesystem located on, that you have not
told us, the error was reported by 03:01 which is /dev/hda1.

Look on your distribution source, redhat 5.2 has them in images on the
cdrom.

I personaly would try and get hold of slackware's boot.i and either 
color.gz or text.gz, Why, well you can use them as plain bootdisks, without
mounting your H/D which means you have tools like fdisk mount an editor and
the likes everything you need in this instance, i find the redhat disks
somewhat short of good.

Most mirror sites should have a slackware directory, if you want to persue
this method.
