Hi,
I have just installed Red Hat Linux 6.0 coexist with Window 95 on my
computer a week ago. Now I am trying to set up a PPP connection to the
internet. I follow the intructions on a Red Hat Linux book and set
/dev/modem to COM2, add namesever, and create ppp0. But when I am trying
to connect to the internet by using /sbin/ifup ppp0, nothing had
happened. There is no modem sound nor error message. Could anyone tell
me what's wrong? Could it be that my modem isn't supported by Linux? I
have a Compaq Presario 56K-DF modem which came alone with my Compaq
computer I bought two years ago.
