Hello,

Granted, I am new here and probably shouldn't even offer advice...:), but... 
  I ran into a similar problem with my mouse.  When X was started, the mouse 
shot up to the top right corner of the screen and stayed there...  I just 
ran 'mouseconfig' from a command line and picked a new driver.  Problem 
Solved.  Just a thought.
