There might be a bug in the Red Hat text installation mouse
configuration. I've installed RH 6.1 twice now, once with the
installer update and once without. Both times I selected a 3 button
generic serial mouse and what it gave me was a two button generic
serial mouse. My mouse (trackball) has a selector switch, so when
the mouse didn't function as a 3 button, I switched to 2 button and
it worked in X.
I ran xfconfig and selected 3 button serial and then the mouse
worked as a 3 button for X but did strange things console mode,
like cause a lot of disk activity. Switching the mouse back to 2
button mode cured that. I didn't have this during the brief time I had
RH 5.2 installed.
I will probably re-install RH 6.1 again this weekend and see what
happens. I did a custom install last time and didn't get all the
packages that I thought I would so this time I'll do the custom and
select "everything".
