Smarthost is a host you send all you mail to, it can be defined in
/etc/sendmail.cf
I have no idea what the other question is about, you yourself can see who
sent it in the headers.

There will be more databases popping up here and there very soon, the
amout of SPAM has never been so high, would you like your family to get
automail from some or other smut URL saying, FREE PORNO. ?????
That will happen and does happen, if it were to arrive in the normal postal
service you could complane to the Post Office, on the net you suffer.
We as mailing list users are subceptable to spam, ISP's are now trying to
find ways of excluding spam, the unfortunate thing is, some folks will
suffer when thier mailer config is not set properly.
