Thought I posted to the list a reply to your problem with slow Linux using
Caldera 2.3. I think, however, it is still in the que.
Caldera 2.3 has a bug in the installation routine that allows it to create the
swap file, but does not turn it on. I had the same problem and boy does it
make a difference. Unfortunately, I am away from home and don't have the
instructions with me as to how to turn swap on. Caldera has a web site for
such problems and that particular bug is listed there and what you have to do
to correct it.
