No, but you should show us a snippet from your
/var/log/messages file. Then we will see, I hope, what's
wrong.

Next point: tell us your hardware configuration, AFAIK ditto
3200 needs an accelerator card (fast fdc with 4000 kBps). Do
you have one? What's the configuration of this card (irq, io,
dma)?

How do you make ftape run? Insmod by hand or with kerneld?
If the latter is true, then show us /etc/conf.modules.

Note: With ftape-4.0x at least three modules have to be
loaded:

zftape
ftape
fdc-internal

The latter one is the hardware dependand part of ftape.
zftape is the file system interface and ftape is the generic
ftape driver.

Maybe these questions give you a hint to solve the problem by
yourself.
