My apologies if this is a double post but since I didn't receive a
reply to my first request for help I am assuming that my mesage was
not distributed to the list.
After installing ftape, I execute the 'insert' script for the modules.
The script outputs a number of messages including some errors. Here
are the messages that I think are errors:
can't locate module parport
trakker.c (trakker_checksum) - checksum error (off by 9c).
...... repeated several times with different "off by xx" number.......
trakker.c (trakker_detect) - can't find trakker interface for ftape id
1.
trakker.c (trakker_detect) - ft_parport_probe(fdc, &trakker->parinfo)
failed: -6.
bpck-fdc.c (bpck_fdc_detect) - - can't find bpck interface for ftape
id 1.
bpck-fdc.c (bpck_fdc_detect) - - ft_parport_probe(fdc, &bpck->parinfo)
failed: -6.
The message about parport is the most troubling since I can find
nothing, anywhere about such a module. I am clueless as to what that
is about. It is not mentioned in the ftape documentation nor in the
Lunix documentation so I have no idea where to get it. The other
message are confusing since I don't have either of these type drives I
don't know why they are there. The ftape documention indicates that
the QIC-3020 tape is supported but that is the only reference I can
find. I saw nothing in the configuration that referenced that type
drive except where I was supposed to uncomment a parameter line.
I obvously have some kind of configuration or installation error but
do not know here to go from here. Can someone point me in the right
direction? The available doccumentation has been no help. TIA.
