Thanks for steering me away from 'insert'. Using your modprobe
commands I proved I was right and had and installation/configuration
problem. Not sure what I did wrong the first time but I started again
and no longer get the 'symbol not found' errors.
Now on to the next layer of the onion. I used the second set of
commands you suggested:
>> modprobe ftape ft_fdc_driver=bpck-fdc,none,none,none
ft_tracings=4,4,4,4,4
>>> > modprobe zftape
>>> > modprobe bpck-fdc ft_fdc_base=0x387 ft_fdc_irq=7
I think you may have transposed the 8 and 7 in the base address but to
be safe I tried it both ways (0x378 and 0x387). In both cases I get an
error from the probe operation saying 'unable to grab address 0x378'.
I am guessing this is still a configuration problem as opposed to a
hardware/driver issue.
I should add that I have also applied the v2.0 patch which did resolve
some device busy errors I was getting but I don't think that has
anyting to do with this problem.
Thanks again for the help.
