Hello,
Thanks to all, who wrote to me, that I have to use the *un*stable ftape
to exclude the Compiler-Error-Message, that a structure had no member
"timeout" (I use the Kernel 2.2.5).
Already I cannot use ftape, I had different problems: I will describe:
1. isapnp told me (about my PNP tape controller that was sold with the
Tape Drive), that I have installed a "iomega 4Mb/S PNP tape controller,
I want to use the free Parameters:
IO = 210
IRQ = 3
DMA = 3
2. Ive compiled ftape (ftape-4.x-1999-06-30) as a module and modified
/etc/conf.modules like this:
alias char-major-27 zftape
options ftape ft_fdc_driver=ftape-internal,none,none,none
options ftape-internal ft_fdc_base=0x210 ft_fdc_irq=3 ft_fdc_dma=3
pre-install ftape-internal /sbin/swapout 16
ftape-tool says me: ftmt: /dev/nqft0: Device not configured
(in other constallation, i got the message, that /dev/nqft0 is busy,
nqft[1-3] were not configured.
lsmod says me: zftape, ftape loaded (but no ftape-internal!)
When I take a look at /var/log/messages, I can read the following:
modprobe: modprobe: pre-install ftape-internal failed
modprobe: modprobe: insmod ftape-internal failed

Can someone tell, how my "MCONFIG"-File had to look, an how my
isapnp.conf or conf.modules had to look. Noone of the resources of the
internal ftape-IO-Card (Windows98 told me, that it is a Ditto Dash Card)
are used under Linux, cat /proc/ioports etc. shows me, that the
resources are free.
Thanks
Robert
