I have gotten past the errors usually reported on this list, but I need
someone to help me.

Compilation went fine and now I am trying to test the modules. Following
suggestions from the BRU guys and the insert script I manually typed the
following

insmod ./ftape.o ft_fdc_driver=bpck-fdc,none,none,none
ft_tracings=3,3,3,3,3
insmod ./zftape.o ft_major_device_number=27 # ${27-FT_MAJOR}

I believe it is zftape that is not working because my /var/log/messages
looks like this

And then it stops. According to several sources, I should be getting
additional info at this point, namely something like

bpck-fdc.c: bpck_fdc_register @ 0xc80d6448

It looks as if zftape is not completing some initialization. Can anyone
point me at anything that might help?

Thanks.
