Hmmm, wish I could help you, but my tape drive is internal and hooked-up to
the floppy port.  One thing though, you mentioned used the tape drive from
Linux, but have you tried to print from Linux?  There are several kernel
options that need configured correctly before something like this device
will work.  What kernel are you using?

That usually means something is screwed-up.  I seen that plenty of times
before I got the kinks out of my ftape setup.

Who knows, maybe you are the only one reading the list with that setup.  If
I were you, I would get on a site like www.searchlinux.com and see if anyone
else has gotten this working.  Another good idea would be to search under
parallel port ZIP drives; they may have similar setups.

Keep pluggin', it took me almost a month to get my sound card/tape drive to
work together without crashing my Linux box.  Now, things are working great
and my Linux knowledge went up 200% in the process. :)
