Rico -

You don't need to use parport_pc EXCEPT under the 2.2.x kernels.  The
support that you require for parallel port is IN the 2.0.xx kernels.

Please take the time to read the comments in the insert and remove
scripts in the modules directory of the latest ftape sources.  The
comments explain it very well.
