Iomega Ditto Max

I just purchased an Iomega Ditto Max tape drive and am currently having trouble
getting it to work.  I don't believe my trouble is with ftape.  I don't think
my system is even recognizing the accelerator card.  I don't see any kernel
messages regarding it when I boot up or when I look at them with dmesg. 
Could there be a problem with the IO Base or IRQ's?  

I am using ftape 3.04 with Redhat 6.1, kernel 2.2.12.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
