Now that the two of you mention this, I looked at the data sheet of the Anchor AN2131, and the resemblance is too large to be a coincidence. Four of the bulk endpoints are used (one for reading, one for writing / downloading firmware, one for getting a 2-byte status, one for sending commands). So, indeed, the usb-storage model where only two bulk endpoints are used, fails. Is there already support for this animal elsewhere? That is, would it suffice to give the firmware?
