OK, just did that and it really does work!

The config for the 2.6.12.1 is directly copied from 
the 2.6.11.8 one , only with a make oldconfig,

There are errors in the log though, but they seem not to influence the
workings of the device. Maybe a result of the USB 2.0 stick in
1.1 port? The log look like this:

I will now try 2.6.11.8 on the embedded board and see what happens.
This is getting weird... I still wonder about non-initialized
registers/variables.
