Another way is this:

The OEM sets up a Web site with a CGI script and couple of versions of
GCC. The user goes to the Web site, uploads his Linux configuration
information (few files) and the CGI script compiles the driver for him!

This can be highly automated, and such a CGI script can be offered to all
OEMs to use... even cross-platform compilation should be possible. Does it
sound like a good idea?
