A wollen fleece probably wont help.. You need something that retains it's elasticity under compression to adsorb the vibrations. Carpet was probably a bad example...
Line the walls with soundproof jib and batts as someone else suggested? Put the computers in an old wardrobe, lined with speaker cabinet matting, and put some fans in it to keep the air flow up?
