Hi all,

Thanks David for the hard work with the gov't regarding opensource. I
am suggesting that we start a petition and get signatures from across
New Zealand in support of the government being forced to implement open
source wherever possible. This could either be an epetition or a
written one. I have kept track of many articles regarding governments
around the world and their implementations of Open Source. I suggest if
it has not been done that we create a list of those governments that
have moved/are moving to open source and their motives for doing so
along with relevant articles (online and otherwise) supporting our case.

I have submitted the STUFF article to Linux Today and it has been
included as of today.
See: http://linuxtoday.com/

I am sickened by the governments dependence on proprietary products and
the fact that in essence, Microsoft owns the governments data that is
created using proprietary formats. New Zealand should own its own data,
not some foreign proprietary software company. I am anxious for further
action to be taken on this issue and would be happy to help in any way
possible. Feel free to contact me either on or off list regarding this
important issue.

Kind Regards,

Jason
