One suggestion: *Everybody* write to your MP. Ask them, as a constituent, what the Government is doing towards the support of Open Source to reduce Government costs and increase inter-operational efficiency or somesuch. You can get their e-mail address by typing their name into the search bar at http://www.govt.nz/ It might be an idea for some LUG official-with-title to ask the relevant minister what is going on, on behalf of the membership. Maybe even spread the word between LUGs. If Government departments suddenly get asked a lot of similar questions, they know something is up and start pooling their resources to deal with the problem. Hopefully, they'll view the costs as the problem, not the constituents! Otherwise the Evil Empire's tentacles will envelop and smother us all.
