Any talk on any tool that is available for linux, and assists in the transition to linux (ie: answers the question "I want to switch to linux, but how do I do X?") is very much on topic, IMHO.
I would find a talk on [La]Tex, [K]LyX, and other cool tools such as perl and python very useful. I maintain an address list for a young adults group at church (young in this group is 19-50ish). If I could cobble together some sort of database with some sort of scripted tool to produce a printed phonelist, that would be cool. I currently use openoffice. ] > I could do it if there's enough interest. But we've had that ] discussion. ] ] Anyway TeX etc is much more common on *nix than on wintel platforms, ] bring it on I say!
