As others have said, it is a matter of preference. I am using KDE 3.1, though I have tried all the major window managers/desktops under Linux. I keep going back to KDE due to its looks and fuctionality. In my experience, true geeks use either the CLI or Gnome, while others prefer KDE but those are not hard and fast rules. I like KDE's configurability which Gnome seriously curtailed in from 2.0 forward. I think Gnome looks "cheap" but then once again, it's personal taste. Try them all and decide for urself!!

FYI, now that KDE's licensing has been sorted there is no "religious" reason not to use it as in times past.

Regards,

Jason

Hi all!

I'm a new linux user and wondering at the moment whether to use the GNOME or KDE desktop. Can anybody give me a hint what the differences/ pros and cons are?

Thanks!
