Now that my wifes destop has been comandeered for the IPCop box, I need to organise a replacement. I am aiming for a silent or fanless option since it lives in the bedroom - PC or X terminal are both options.
I haven't time at present to get into an exotic case modding silent project with exotic parts so something more or less off the shelf would be ideal.
Silent box / LCD display.
Any leads / pointers appreciated.
I would recommend an X-terminal. A fanless machine is likely to be low on grunt, so using it only for the X display and a grunty server for the programs is a good option. Also, you have the advantage of not having to maintain an extra Linux installation. Also, you might be able to go with an even cheaper box with an X-terminal instead of a full installation. X-terminal software can be installed on a PC or it could be a dedicated X-terminal, of course.
