The shareware tool for CDR analysis they had on the cd is called CD/DVD 
Diagnostic and is available here:

Also, there were three brands which came out looking the worst in the test 
which were Kruidvat, MMore and Platinum.  Kruidvat sounds dutch, but I'm 
pretty sure I've seen platinum ones here.
