I know he heavily favours the ltmodem, & am reporting recollected detail here.

Make partition space free for SuSE install. Test all apps incl cam. Delete Mdk if no longer needed.
well its an idea, but I am not sure why suse would do any differently.
I didn't test the latter, but YaST works better than hardDrake in my experience.
Mandrake needs script-level tweaking for trickier h/w, from what I've seen.
