since when HAVEN'T Xtra charged for local traffic? - I see no change there.
Actually some of xtra's plans do provide for protection against DDOS - ok they will rate limit you back to 64K but at least you know you're not going to incur any additional charges.

I'm using Xtra's "swift" plan 2c/Mb isn't that outrageous.
The other 2M/192K plans offer the unlimited cap but rate limiting beyond 10Gig.

the 2Mbit speed at the same price as 256K has to be value for money. I mean it actually makes multimedia useable for a change. 256K just doesn't cut it.

Xtra is badgering me to move to a new plan.

One curiousity is all local traffic is now part of your allocation.

I wonder how long it would take if we start ignoring local mirrors and just go to the international sources before they will change that?

Since they are forcing me to re-read all the fine print again, I don't see why I should stop at reading their fine print...

Any suggestions for Linux friendly ISP's.

My dream ISP will have a plan that doesn't bankrupt me if I get hit by a DDOS, will provide a static IP and allow me to serve up my home machine for convenience and to friendly traffic, and have a free Debian mirror.
