huh? BSD and linux are two seperate entities?

So that leads to a more generic "unix users group" - which would definately be interesting :-)

On the other hand, there is also a good position for an "open source software"[1] grouping, which should include people running on non-free systems, windows being the obvious starting point, but others too. There is a lot of open source available for windows, but people still think that they should steal shareware instead of using open source - free as in beer being their only criteria.
