TU Darmstadt's library has introduced electronic lending of books in pdf
format. The files can be downloaded and are usable for 4 days (before
presumably bitrot sets in). The scheme is based on acroread 6, of which
Adobe is obviously not going to release a Linux version. This isn't the

This time we are not the only ones! Windows <= 98, MacOS <= 10.2.7 and *ix are also not included.
