Unless you have filled out PAT form 15 and paid your $337.50 they won't consider it. I rang and asked if there was any other way. There wasn't.

P.S. go to the patent search form and enter Microsoft in the "Owner name" field. They have 53 patent applications in various states, from "filed" to "granted"
