Is what I've always used to configure sa properly.
The config file you need to update is probably
~user/.spamassassin/user_prefs
Rather than the global one.

Should I have simply copied the entire .cf files from usr/share/spamassassin
and dropped them into the /local.cf file rather than pick out the relevant
lines of code?
have I missed something obvious??
