Linux is not Windows. If you used/learnt Linux over a long period you would not think it is hard. There are heaps of people on this list who are prepared to help you in various ways. The communication problem is probably because the email senders and recipient are at a different level - a common occurrence with email. Why not ask if there is anybody prepared to go to your home and help you? I know heaps of newbies have started this way. I started a few years ago a bit like you (although I considered myself quite proficient with MS products) and now I am 99.5% Linux at home (Linux desktop, Linux server, Linux PVR and dual boot laptop for work) Don't get disheartened.
