Totally agree.

My nephew has a 4 month old Acer laptop which was running like a dog with 
WinXP and quite a bit of pirated software.

I installed Mepis on it (with the proviso that if he did not like it he could 
reinstall Windows) and within an hour of the decision to try it he had a 
completed installation and apparently all of the functionality he needed.

He was so impressed at what he got free and legal.

If you compare that to what it takes to get a complete "office" system up and 
running on Windows (including the numerous reboots) then Mepis would win 
hands down.
