I'll need to bring a suitable computer. What's the story with the
projector now - it didn't look like it was as much multisync as its
manual suggested.
No, anything but native res' (& DVD widescreen) is a pain to deal with. Native res is always the sweet spot on these units.

Can everyone who has a working X11 config file for
the projector please email that to me (and tell me which section is
for the projector)? Thanks.
Sync seems governed by negatiation @boot-time (betw laptop LCD & D15 SVGA output - they are the same freq), which seems guaranteed to work if your desktop screen has been preset to 1024x768. As Chris says,

It works perfectly with my ThinkPad which runs at 1024x768 @ 60Hz frame rate. I think your comments about multi-sync are true, the image quality always suffers when a different sync rate is used on projectors.
these are the specs of my lappie too (a happy coincidence with the projector).
Dropping down to 800x600 on the fly works, but is less clear.

Rik is the man.

I'll have a few more resolutions on the night.
 Full resolution - 1920x1080 - 854,537,054 bytes
       Projector resolution - 1024x576 - 156,781,186 bytes
 Intermediate resolution - 720x405 - 126,507,558 bytes
plus a TV one.
The sure proof is a home test pre-meeting, as I'll do for Barry today. Chris's short animation I am confident will screen fine, if his laptop is the source (haven't seen any m'media failures yet under such conditions). So if you'd like me to drop by to test your computer's compatibility soon, that's a can do.

Oh, and I've never had a KDE distro not project well, for some reason. :-)
