Ah, now I feel more welcome ;-)... Seriously, I thought I'd introduce
myself. Fellow NIWA coworker Roy Britten pointed me to this group, but
unfortunately for now I'll only be able to participate virtually as your
monthly meeting happens at the same time as my caving club meeting...
Anyways, a lot of informative posts... We've just set up a linux laptop
at home and will be playing a bit with it (Ubuntu). So far I have been
impressed how easily we got it all to work including the WIFI bit
(we have an AirPort network at home, our other computers are Powerbooks)
Oh, I've been working on Linux for the past several years, before that
it was Solaris, Irix, etc. I am mostly a Java developer.
