Thanks Chris. The point was missed... perhaps I didn't point it out...

I had no idea what I was meant to be downloading.

In the Linux world (and you guys have pointed this out many times), mirrors aren't always up to date.

I had no idea what file I was looking for.

People said 'use the live cd'. There was no reference I could find to 'live cd'.

:)

I had a play with a couple of the mirrors metioned on the MEPIS site.
As I expected, the ibiblio one seems to be the fastest.
This is the URL of the file you need:-
ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/mepis/released/SimplyMEPIS_6.0_i386.iso
and check it against the md5sum here:-
ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/mepis/released/SimplyMEPIS_6.0_i386.md5sum

Thanks.

I tested both.

Orcon seem to have problems with OS links right now.

TC were having issues last week.

I complained yesterday and something seems to have been done.

SCX had a problem last 3 weeks, it's throw everyone in the market upside down who didn't have 100% protected connections.

Mark from Internode.com.au presented a really interesting write up about the problem on www.whirlpool.net.au - for anyone who's interested.

The file is now due in 3.5 hours (that's ok) which is much faster than the 8 hours that your link forcast.

I know that profanity sometimes escapes when one is frustrated, but please try to keep it out of the written word.

I assumed the server had a user option to just drop out mine, Nicks and Riks profanity... :p

Yes, Dad, sorry :)

Cheers Don :)
