I have installed (and it's performing OK) the wvdial 1.55-ubuntu3 (dapper) package found amongst Mepis' Synaptic Package Manager collection. That doesn't help Alan until he is online or I have installed *.deb packages by downloading and right clicking on them in a Konqueror file-manager, then selecting Manage Package/Install from the drop-down menu. They subsequently show in the Synaptic's database OK. Of interest to Conexant/Rockwell modem chipset users is http://www.linuxant.com/drivers and select the specific driver(s) for Mepis 6.0 on the download page(s). In other words they are tailored to the Mepis kernel build - there are free versions available. [...] HTH... Rex
