Hello Alan,

If windows keeps asking to set it up cancel it,then go to Control panel -> Add 
new Hardware. follow the prompts after the plug and play until you get to the 
Modem bit. click on don't detect my modem select from list, then select Generic 
33k modem or Hayes compatible.
If your home saturday morning I'll pop over and fit the cable and set it up for 
you.
