No, I don't think this is necessary. I anything, you could just remove the ltmodem modules, but I don't think that's required either. My suspicion is that Alan is addressing the wrong port still. If he had moved his phone line from the internal modem to the external modem but the software was still looking at the internal modem, then of course there would be no dial tone.
