Anyone here have or had an NEC monitor that failed or broke well before
it was out of warranty?

I purchased an 21" NEC P1250+ monitor last March. After about 6 months
of use (last October) it just died. I tried to power it on, and there
was nothing, no power at all. So, NEC gave me an RMA and i had to pay
the US$70 (and this was UPS Ground, because this beast weighs nearly
90lbs with packing materials) to ship it to their RMA center. About a
week later, I received a refurbed replacement.

A month later, in late November, the replacement started to misbehave.
The picture was all washed out, and white lines randomly appeared &
disappeared on the screen. So, I got another RMA from NEC, and spent
anohter US$70 to ship it back for replacement.

So, today, i'm on the 3rd monitor, and out of no where today, the
monitor deGaussed itself. That was a few hours ago, but now every so
often, the picture just kind of rotates about 2 degrees for no apparent
reason.

I will state right away that i'm only using Linux, and when I configured
X for the monitor, i specified the exact range of Horz & Vert
frequencies that were in the user's guide for the monitor. So i
definitely didn't cause this chain of events.
