Yes, i've heard that SONY's have excellent performance and reputations,
but they're also very expensive.  A SONY 17" costs about the same as the
NEC 21" that I have.  Yes, i know, i got what i paid for.

The thing is, when the monitor is working properly, the picture quality
is very good.  I run it at 1600x1200 85Hz refresh rate, and its crystal
clear.  I happen to have a much older generic brand 17" monitor on
another box sitting side by side with this one, and the difference in
picture quality (forget resolution improvement) is startling.  My wife
always ignored me or laughed when i commented in the past that the
picture quality was better.  Now that she's sitting at the older 17",
she has admitted that there is a noticable difference.
