Maybe more common than you think. There was a recent article in the
Linux Journal comparing MS$ today to IBM of the past. IBM used to only lease
it computers, and controlled the software you could run. They had the same
type of monoply as MS$ in its market. MS$ is obviously trying to move to
where IBM used to be, forcing its users to use only MS$ software and
refusing to sell them the software, only lease it to them. This creates a
dependable income stream and destroys the after market (used software).
