Thanks to everyone who replied to my question about email providers.

Hosting my own email sounds like fun but I have other projects that need my attention for the next while. :)

I really do like the look of Posteo. The only pain is not being able to host your own email domain with them but since their FAQ explains that doing so would enable them to know who you are and it would go against everything they're doing. I'm happy with that explanation so will end up having my own domain elsewhere and just forward email to my Posteo account for the foreseeable future.

Unless someone can see a really bad idea with that approach.

Proton Mail looked attractive too except Posteo was cheaper for more email storage but you're limited to an app on your smart phone or the web interface. No such thing as bring your own client, except this was mentioned in their support section a couple of years ago. Looks like no progress has been made in this area though.

Now to renegotiate with what I pay Vodafone...
