Yes, I think a font with consistent style is THE most important thing too.
Maybe there should be several groups of them: C style, J style and K
style. So people from different region can use the one most comfortable
with. I am using Chinese only and don't need to mix with any other
language.
There are such fonts there but they are all TTF font. For example
one popular font among mainland Chinese is SimSun.ttf. It contains
all the glyphs in CJK Unified Ideographs. And I know several companies
in China are selling fonts cover CJK Unified Ideographs Extension A
and even B these days.
I once tried to convert SimSun.ttf to a bitmap font, but as you all know,
the resulted bitmap font does not look good.
A side node about Externsion B. I printed the pdf file found in Unicode
website. NONE of the characters there I have ever encountered/used before.
So the complete (or almost complete) CJK ideographs may seem to be a lot,
but actually only several thousands are used daily. For me, it is about
four thousand or so.
