Bad advice. How many of them are 1. Free Software, 2. don't use
proprietary protocols like MAPI, and 3. run nicely under WINE?

It's better to improve the free mail clients - Emacs in this case.
Emacs 21 will have partial Unicode support (for the BMP excluding CJK
characters). But the Emacs developers still say "we don't support
UTF-8 locales". Go ahead and push Mule-UCS into the emacs kernel.
