I haven't used puppy much. I tried it one time on a very old system (+10 years old). I didn't have wifi in it, so I look into any configuration for that. I personally didn't care for Puppy as a distribution. It just didn't seem like it would work that well for my needs, but that was also a couple years ago, so I would expect they have improved quite a bit since then. > Second problem: I am testing Suse and Knoppix on my laptop with > Centrino. This might be easier to answer with some specific information about your system (what card/chipset does it have?, what versions of each distro are you using?). I know that the MadWifi site has a pretty good list of compatible hardware as well as some instructions for using MadWifi. This site might have some information that would help you. Also, you might want to check if your laptop is listed on http://www.linux-laptop.net/ to see if others have had success setting up Linux on your laptop. > Third problem: It is true that "live cd" versions do not change > Windows operating systems? Without telling the Live-CD to use the hard drive, or any other drive, it will not write anything to your drives. You can tell the Live-CD to store configuration on a disk (usually on a floppy or usb disk) if you want, but without specific instruction, a Live-CD will not write anything to your local drives. -- Doug Registered Linux User #285548 (http://counter.li.org) ---------------------------------------- Random Thought: "Tourists -- have some fun with New york's hard-boiled cabbies.
