The driver you have on disk, for the WiFi card... is it for Linux, or Windows? Windows drivers are not recognised by Linux operating systems. If the Linux operating system did in fact recognise your WiFi card during installation, it should say so in 'dmesg', which can be printed to file with: $ dmesg > some-file-name ...and examined by you. If it was recognised, you will still probably have to do some configuring, like setting up dhcp, so your Linux operating system can communicate effectively with the Internet. > Second problem: I am testing Suse and Knoppix on my laptop with > Centrino. It auto-mounted NTFS volumes on a dual boot machine (Win2k and Red Hat), and trashed some boot files, rendering Win2k unbootable, except from an emergency diskette. I read that others had experienced this glitch, too, and that it was because that specific release of FreeBSIE did not properly unmount non-native file systems, on shutdown. I trust Knoppix, but I am wary of a lot of the lesser known/tested Live CD's. -- -wittig http://www.robertwittig.com/ . http://robertwittig.net/ To unsubscribe from this list, please email [EMAIL PROTECTED] & you will be removed.
