Scott said,Open firefox or whatever browser you use on Linux and type

127.0.0.1:631

This will open the cups web interface.

There's an option to add a printer. The second screen (I think)
is device. There's a drop down box--a white box with an arrow at the
right. I believe it's the last choice, but it will read something like
Windows printer SAMBA.

I am finally getting back to this. I have done the part to get to CUPS
web
interface. I have gotten the ip address of my Window pc (192.168.1.33).
The cups site has these tabs - Home, Administration, Classes,
Documentation/Help,
Jobs, Printer.
On the Administration tab it looks like this:

Printers
  [Add Printer] <http://127.0.0.1:631/admin?op=add-printer> [Manage
Printers] <http://127.0.0.1:631/printers/>

Basic Server Settings:

Show printers shared by other systems
Share published printers connected to this system
Allow remote administration
Allow users to cancel any job (not just their own)
Save debugging information for troubleshooting

I don't have either of the printers that are shown on this tab. In fact
I have
never owned an epson or canon printer. If I put a check mark in the
option
'Share published printers connected to this system' and click on change
settings
then the next screen wants a user name and password.

I haven't done anything beyond putting the check mark in the option. I
am
unsure of what I should do. Last time I got where I couldn't even print
to the 4110 that is attached to my Mepis pc. I had to re-install Mepis
to
get the 4110 to print again.

Anyway, I await your expert advice?

Thanks,
houndhen
