As from the recent spate of mails from "Natasha" from topica.com, we can
see that someone has been trying to spam two ML's at the same time! He must
have subscribed topica to our ML. So now topica gets our unsolicited mail
while we get their warning mails! But topica was saved since theirs was a
restricted list. If ours had been a subscribers-only list, then natasha at
topica would have gotten a return mail for every warning that our ML received.
The name of the particular ML on topica says it all - "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" !
Moderating user mails should not be an issue since people here are pretty
sincere and usually know each other. But we should definitely moderate new
subscription additions to the list, since that will stop people from
pulling stunts like the one mentioned above. Also, the ML should be
restricted to members only, so that the list can't be spammed by someone
subscribing the list address to some other mailing list.
